In 1917, the Chinese Institute of Engineers (CIE – 中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)) was founded in US by a group of able, dedicated well educated Chinese engineers. These charter members were graduate students from American colleges and/or were receiving practical training in American railroads and industries. The CIE merged with Chung-Hwa Engineers (中華工程師學(xué)會(huì)- founded in 1910) in August 1931, at a combined engineering convention held in Nanking.The headquarter was then relocated to Nanking 南京. The organization remained active during the World War II in Chongqing (重慶), re-established the convention in 1938, and formed chapters in Kunming (昆明), Chengdu (成都), Guiyang (貴陽), Lanzhou (蘭州), Guilin (桂林) and Chongqing . (重慶),During the period of Japanese invasion of China, the engineers provided the needed technical services to the government to defend China.

中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)成立于1917年，發(fā)起人是畢業(yè)于美國大學(xué)或者在美國鐵路建設(shè)和工業(yè)生產(chǎn)中獲得豐富實(shí)際訓(xùn)練的中國工程師。1931年中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)與中華工程師學(xué)會(huì)合并，總部位于南京，二次世界大戰(zhàn)期間，學(xué)會(huì)在重慶重新組建，并在昆明、成都、貴陽等地成立了分會(huì)�？谷諔�(zhàn)爭期間，學(xué)會(huì)的工程師為保衛(wèi)國家貢獻(xiàn)了技術(shù)和智慧。

The CIE-NY was re-activated as an independent entity in July 1953 in New York City. The CIE/USA – San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (CIE/USA-SF), 美洲中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)舊金山分會(huì), was established in 1979.

1953年美洲中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)在紐約設(shè)立獨(dú)立的分會(huì)，1979年在舊金山成立美洲中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)舊金山分會(huì)。

The CIE/USA National Council, a federation organization of CIE/USA, was established in 1986 with the Greater New York and San Francisco Bay Area Chapters as its founding chapters. In the following years, the National Council was expanded to include Seattle Chapter, OCEESA Chapter (海外華人環(huán)保學(xué)會(huì)), Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter and New Mexico Chapter and Southern California Chapter.

1986年，由紐約分會(huì)和舊金山分會(huì)發(fā)起成立美洲中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)全國委員會(huì)。隨后，在美洲中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)中相繼設(shè)立了西雅圖分會(huì)，海外華人環(huán)保學(xué)會(huì)，達(dá)拉斯-福特沃思分會(huì)、新墨西哥分會(huì)和南加州分會(huì)。

The missions of CIE/USA-SF are to promote technological advancement, networking, and communicating among engineers and scientists, and to promote well-being of engineering community.

美洲中國工程師學(xué)會(huì)舊金山分會(huì)的使命是：促進(jìn)技術(shù)進(jìn)步，擴(kuò)大聯(lián)絡(luò)，加強(qiáng)科學(xué)家和工程師之間的溝通交流，推動(dòng)工程技術(shù)為人類美好生活服務(wù)。
